Newton (east) is a neighbourhood of Surrey, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 6,200 living in private households. 79.6% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 67.2%. 18.6% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 47.2% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $111,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 29.4% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.65 km², giving a population density of 3,751 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
