Royal Oak (northeast) is a neighbourhood of Burnaby, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 7,333 living in private households. 78.6% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 39.1%. 19.4% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 2.0% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 58.3% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $75,500 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 36.7% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.36 km², giving a population density of 5,411 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
