Metrotown (east-southeast 2) is a neighbourhood of Burnaby, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 3,739 living in private households. 79.2% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 36.7%. 20.2% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.4% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 57.9% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $60,400 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 58.1% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.29 km², giving a population density of 13,005 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
