Brownsville (west) is a neighbourhood of Surrey, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 3,883 living in private households. 82.9% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 56.6%. 15.7% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.4% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 54.0% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $90,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 30.3% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.60 km², giving a population density of 6,474 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
