Brownsville (northwest) is a neighbourhood of Surrey, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 7,954 living in private households. 77.8% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 58.2%. 19.2% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 3.1% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 43.3% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $97,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 38.8% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.99 km², giving a population density of 4,004 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
