Coquitlam is a neighbourhood of Coquitlam, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 2,874 living in private households. 35.2% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 12.2%. 62.2% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 2.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 32.8% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $126,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 16.8% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 55.49 km², giving a population density of 52 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
