Sunnyside (north-northeast) is a neighbourhood of Surrey, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 7,996 living in private households. 43.7% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 20.3%. 54.8% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.5% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 35.0% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $104,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 22.2% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.73 km², giving a population density of 4,617 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
