Thompson (east-northeast) is a neighbourhood of Richmond, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 4,469 living in private households. 79.4% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 57.1%. 19.9% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.9% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 61.5% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $83,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 20.9% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.03 km², giving a population density of 4,326 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
