Whalley (north 1) is a neighbourhood of Surrey, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 2,917 living in private households. 67.4% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 17.6%. 28.0% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 4.6% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 52.5% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $63,600 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 44.4% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.50 km², giving a population density of 5,824 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
