Whalley (north-northeast) is a neighbourhood of Surrey, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 1,987 living in private households. 67.8% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 30.0%. 29.5% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 2.9% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 48.7% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $77,500 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 59.4% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.61 km², giving a population density of 3,271 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
