Metrotown (north-northeast) is a neighbourhood of Burnaby, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 3,810 living in private households. 76.8% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 45.9%. 21.7% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.4% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 56.5% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $86,000 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 37.4% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.35 km², giving a population density of 2,822 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
