Metrotown (west-southwest) is a neighbourhood of Burnaby, in Metro Vancouver. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 5,991 living in private households. 70.9% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 54.5% across Metro Vancouver as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 39.2%. 28.3% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 60.9% of the population, compared with 41.8% citywide. Median household income before tax was $61,600 in 2020, compared with $90,000 for Metro Vancouver. 41.2% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.13 km², giving a population density of 5,292 people per square kilometre (Metro Vancouver averages about 879).
